Speaker: Poor Shepherd *not Marlowe
Shepherd's Message: He is pursuing a woman of a higher ranking than him.
- he is making promises in order to try to woo her
- his promises are not literal -> metaphor for his love for her
Rhythm = Iambic tetrameter (four beats)
- sounds like a heartbeat, playful, lyrical
Could be symbolic of anyone with a love for someone who seems unattainable
To the Virgins, to Make Much of Time:

Audience: Young girls
Message: Giving advice.
- Cherish youth.
- Take advantage of youth + the time one has now.
- You are a flower, take advantage of the time when you are blooming.
